Help with brake disks required
Anyone out there with any suggestions on best way to remove severely corroded disks from an MGF. Have had to drill out the retaining screws and despite much thumping with my mash hammer can't get the flipping disks to move! Suggestions welcome!
Cheers

Re: Help with brake disks required
There are I think two screws on each disk.
I think you can put 8mm bolts through the threaded holes on the disk to force it off on a number of modern cars.
Other wise just hit it harder

Re: Help with brake disks required
I've bene therea few times Graeme/ Its just a case of smashing the disk from behind with a big metal hammer (you are not going to use the disk again). Turn wheel a 1/4 and bash and repeat. It shoud come off eventually. You need to get it up quite high so you can get a good swing at the disk without hititng anything important!!

Think that is the problem, can't get the car up high enough to really give it some wellie! I have never had so much trouble with a disk before though. May have to go to garage with this one!

Job done, all back together again and no loss of knuckles or any other body part!!! Picture below shows just how badly corroded the disks were.
